( he was vaguely aware that there were others from new amsterdam here. that he didn't arrive somewhere without others, that the implant is still active and inside his head. tony stark made sure he didn't miss out on that.
but he wasn't expecting kai because there is no kai active on that network. it throws him off for a moment; long enough that he stops in the middle of the walkway with the grocery bag still held tight in a fist. looks kai over, for any sign that this may be a dream.
(his dreams are never like this, and definitely wouldn't include an alternate reality with someone he wasn't sure he wanted to run into again. kai knows too much)
but it doesn't take long for him to realize that this definitely isn't one. he pulls in a breath. considers going for oh sorry i don't remember anything, as if he isn't the right adam, but they both came here from the same place. they both (he's assuming) have the implants. there aren't going to be very many active adams on it, but there is one. pretending he's not the right person probably won't work for long. )

Welcome to Central City though! It's so much better than New Amsterdam. ( tilting his head back, he closes his eyes and inhales slowly. ) Can you feel it? ( he opens his eyes again as he meets his gaze with an enthusiastic smile. ) Magic. This world is brimming with it. I haven't felt this refreshed in months. When I first got here, I almost cried. Super embarrassing, I know.
( he can't feel the magic kai is referring to, but he can feel the ley lines. feels them humming around him, hears their soft whispers. they've been on his list of things to hunt down and explore, investigate, but adam thought getting a hand on everything else first might be better than switching his attention to something a little more weighty. )

if kai wasn't so opposed to living anywhere with falls in its name (and if it wasn't currently the roosting ground of one doctor strange), he would have moved there asap. unfortunately, it isn't a viable option. cc suits his goals better in the long term anyway. )
Hm. ( a thoughtful pause. ) It feels the same way you would after a soothing shower or a great night of sleep. Just this surge of refreshing energy, except it carries and it never wavers. It feels amazing.

It doesn't feel natural. Not like how it is back home. No ties with Mama Nature. It's everywhere but it's difficult to pinpoint an exact source. All I know is that it's more powerful in Sunset Falls. A magical hotspot, you can call it.

So it's likely to do with the Confluences themselves, rather than something that existed here before.
( good to know. there's a glance back down to his bag, and a glance over to kai. figuring out if he should just leave him here suddenly without warning, invite him up, or try to come up with a good excuse to leave him behind. he doesn't know kai well, but kai knows adam better than anyone else who's here. it doesn't make for a comfortable combination. which makes leaving him all the more difficult, because adam doesn't necessarily want to spread what little kai does know around. )
I've got things I need to put away in my--temporary room. ( super temporary. as in he's leaving as soon as he gets paid enough to get out. as in adam definitely does not intend to stay here any longer than necessary. ) Do you want to continue this upstairs?
